How many B&B’s give you your own kitchen?

For your convenience, there’s also a modern coffee maker and microwave.

Dining Room

Gather at the table to enjoy a round of cards or play board games in The Colaw Rooming House Dining Room. The unique pattern in the hardwood floor is an indication of the quality of the workmanship performed by those who built this home in 1893.

Living Room and Parlor

Turn on the vintage console tube radio, slide into a chair in front of the fireplace, and complete your journey back to an earlier time, as you enjoy the comforts of the Living Room and Parlor in The Colaw Rooming House.

Rates & Reservations

You have the house to yourself, including all three bedrooms at the Colaw Rooming House for only $150 per night.

The first floor of the Colaw Rooming House is available for family gatherings, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, baby showers, or other events for only $75 for four hours.

In the days gone by, when travelers were crossing the country on Route 66, there were plenty of little motels to choose from.  Remember when Motel 6 originally charged only $6? But you didn’t get the charm or the hospitality of a Bed & Breakfast. The same goes today, when the quality of national motel chains varies greatly.  Even if you have a good experience at a motel chain, it will never rival the great experience of a quaint, charming Bed & Breakfast experience, like the one you can get at the Colaw Rooming House.

Though the Colaw Rooming House is not ‘legally’ a B&B because you have the place to yourself, it gives you all that a B&B can give you and more.  The beds are beautiful and comfortable, the kitchen is yours and the Palm Grill 1930’s diner just two blocks away, and you get the run of the house.  What B&B can guarantee you the peace and privacy of your own home, taken right out of the 1940’s, but with cable, flat screen TV’s and WiFi?

Come experience our hospitality and find out why Bed & Breakfast lovers love the Colaw Rooming House!

Things to See & Do

Palms Grill Cafe

Step into the 1930’s and smell the Blue Plate Special at Atlanta’s Palms Grill Café, which is right on historic Illinois Route 66. You’ll find a daily Blue Plate Special, delicious Evening Entrées, and some of the best homemade pie around. Originally opened in 1934, the Palms Grill Café has been lovingly restored to its circa 1930’s look and feel.

This is one of the things that makes the Colaw Rooming House better than a typical Bed & Breakfast. You can make  yourself totally at home and have the run of the house, then either make breakfast in our awesome, vintage kitchen, or stroll down the block to the Palms Grill diner or the Country Aire restaurant and eat there.

If you want to meet people, which is one of the nice aspects of staying at a B&B, you have all the opportunities for socializing that you can imagine! While the Colaw House gives you charm and privacy, our “Atlanta Attractions” will give you the opportunity to talk to locals at the diner, or travelers from literally all over the world on Arch street! Bed & Breakfasts are only one of the many things that attract visitors to historic Route 66 every single day from Europe, Asia and all over the globe.
